Analysis of the known and recently discovered differentiation patterns of 58 forest butterfly species (of the total 66) in the tribe Heliconiini, including over races and forms, has led to the drawing of a map of core areas for evolution in the by: (), 12 new species have been added to the 26 Neotropical ‘Aeshna’ species he included, bringing it to a total of 38 described species. Proper identification of the Neotropical species of this group has been difficult not only because of problems enumerated above, but also due to .

Subsequently, Broomfield () modified the classification of Derbidae as follows, describing the new tribe Mysidiini. The Mysidiini were revised with 6 genera and species described, with keys to genera and species and amply illustrated.

Emeljanov (, ) subsequently revised higher taxa, sinking Mysidiini under Derbini (now a subtribe) and creating a series of new tribes, using a sequence of new. O’Brien () revised Fennah’s () key to Cedusini (as Cenchreini) to include New World genera only, and provided a checklist of New World species of this tribe excluding Cedusa.

Mysidiini were revised by Broomfield (), but this group includes only 2 species north of Mexico and Emeljanov () considered Mysidiini as part of Derbini.
